Clippin' The River is the most efficient direct-mail publication serving the Tri-State Area of the lower Colorado River a burgeoning area of the Southwest that includes the gaming community of Laughlin, Nevada and the rapidly growing communities of Bullhead City, Arizona and Mohave Valley, Arizona (according to the 2000 U.S. Census, Mohave County, Arizona is the fastest growing county in the state).
Clippin' The River is distributed on Wednesdays and is directly mailed to approximately 26,000 households per week. When combined in a total market package buy with its sister publication, the Mohave Valley Daily News, Clippin' The River provides over ninety five percent coverage of the households in the area.
Clippin' The River was purchased by Brehm Communications in the fall of 2003 and instantly became a valuable asset to its regional publisher, News West Publishing Company.
Brehm Communications, Inc., recently celebrated its 85th anniversary. The company was launched in 1919 by W.J. (Bill) McGiffin and partners with the purchase of the Fort Madison, Iowa, Evening Democrat. After World War II, W.J. (Bill) Brehm started with the W.J. McGiffin Newspaper Company at the Bell-Maywood Industrial Post as a printer's devil. Brehm became publisher of the Post in 1951. Following the death of McGiffin in 1955, Brehm served as general manager of the company until 1960 when he became president. Today, the Brehm family produces more than 40 newspapers, including six dailies, across the country.
